Short version: Ashborn keeps your progress on your own device. We back it up to the cloud under an anonymous ID so you don't lose it. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't ask for your name, email, or address to use the app.
1. Who we are
Ashborn ("Ashborn," "we," "us") is a mobile application operated by an individual developer. You can reach us any time at support@ashbornapp.com. This policy explains what data the Ashborn app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
2. What we collect
Data you create in the app. Your hunter name, chosen class, level, rank, XP, stat values, quests, streaks, unlocked titles, and any journal entries you write. This is stored on your device and backed up to our cloud so it survives a reinstall or a new phone.
An anonymous account ID. When you first open Ashborn, we create an anonymous account through Google Firebase. It's a random string of characters. It is not tied to your name, email address, phone number, or Apple ID, and we cannot use it to identify you personally.
Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple tells us whether your subscription is active. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card number, billing address, or Apple ID.
Basic technical data. Our service providers may log standard information such as device type, operating system version, app version, and crash reports, so we can fix things that break.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not require your real name, email address, or phone number to use the app.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or precise location.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not run advertising.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
4. Why we use it
- To run the app: showing your quests, awarding XP, calculating levels and ranks.
- To back up and restore your progress across devices.
- To confirm whether you have an active subscription.
- To diagnose crashes and improve the app.
5. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work, and only as much as they need:
- Google Firebase (authentication, cloud database, crash reporting) — stores your anonymous ID and your backed-up progress.
- Apple — processes subscription payments and provides subscription status.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription state on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if we're legally required to, or to protect our rights or the safety of users. That's it. No advertisers, no data brokers.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your backed-up progress for as long as your account exists. You can delete everything yourself, at any time, from inside the app — no need to contact us and no waiting.
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account and data. This permanently erases your hunter, quests, stats, titles, journal entries, and your cloud backup. It cannot be undone, and we do not keep a copy.
If you only want to start over without erasing your account, use Settings → Account → Reset progress instead.
7. Your choices
- Delete everything. Settings → Account → Delete account and data. Immediate and permanent.
- Start over. Settings → Account → Reset progress.
- Ask what we hold. Email us and we'll tell you what's stored under your anonymous ID.
- Turn off notifications. In your device settings, or in the app's Preferences.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. Email us and we'll honour those requests.
8. Security
Your cloud data is stored in Google Firebase with access rules that restrict each record to the anonymous account that created it. Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we don't store anything that would identify you personally, which limits what there is to lose.
9. Children
Ashborn is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
